"Read this book. It so detailed with many of the most important aspects of becoming a great shooter. The Russians studied everything involved with understanding how to shoot better and this book has many important principles that I use all the time. The understanding of both the mental and physical aspects of becoming a great shooter are found in here. I recommend it to anyone involved in competitive shooting. The only problem is that copies are scarce. Good Luck."

Competitive Shooting Techniques and Training for Rifle Pistol and Running Game Target Shooting AA Yur'yev Gary L Anderson Books Reviews
- Discusses physiology, positions, breathing, timing, training, etc., for pistol and rifle. I particularly like the copious photos of multiple athletes over many years of shooting seasons... really indicates how there isn't ONE position that is right. Similar to Ways of the Rifle in that respect. This book is more about having the information you need to find the position and technique that work for you, rather than a "how to do it my way" that is a typical book by a champion. Maybe somewhat dated, but if you read this and then read a newer book, this information still resonates and helps.
This book is an NRA-sponsored translation of a Russian shooting coaching manual that the Army obtained in the 1970's. According to at least one author, the NRA translator didn't do as good a job as the original Government translator, but then I don't have access to the old Army files and can't speak to that issue. I am happy that I read this one. - It's a great book if you take the time to read most or all of it. The translation is easy to read as well. The book was in even better condition than I expected it to be. Very happy to have it.
- If your a competitive shooter then this book is a must have! It applies to high power rifle and bullseye pistol as well as other precision shooting competitions. Great detail on anatomy of the body and how to shoot better. If you're a casual shooter who's looking to shoot better its probably overkill for you.
